Concert
Band
Students who average a "B"
or "C" in band are placed Concert Band. Concert Band is made
up of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. They rehearse, as a group, during
third period. Concert Band students are also required to come to lunch
lessons once a week for twenty minutes.
Lunch
lessons are small group lessons in which students are given the opportunity
to work on musical concepts they are currently struggling with. In Concert
Band students review basic musical skills in large group rehearsals. Emphasis
is placed on developing good intonation, and style skills, along with reinforcing
rhythm and articulation. Concert Band performs in three concerts during
the year, and the members are also eligible to participate in the Illinois
Grade School Music Association's Solo and Ensemble Contest. Concert Band
students are also eligible to audition for $100 music scholarships,
sponsored
by the Addison Music Parents, to be used towards the cost of privte music
lessons or Summer Music Lessons. For more detailed information on Concert
Band performances, see the Band Department Calendar.
