Concert Jazz Band

The Concert Jazz Band is a group open to any interested 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student playing saxophone, trumpet, guitar, piano, bass, or drums. Auditions are held for seating at the beginning of the school year. Everyone who auditions for the Concert Jazz Band makes it into the band.

Concert Jazz Band meets from 7:00 to 7:40am Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year. During the course of the year, students learn the basics of jazz style, harmony, and structure. Students learn to play their first blues scales and begin to create their first improvised solos.We have two public performances during the year where we get to show offall that we've learned in a variety of styles, from the blues to swing, latin to rock!
