SymphonicBand

Students who average an "A" in band are placed in Symphonic Band. Symphonic Band is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who rehearse every day during first period. Symphonic Band students are also required to come to lunch lessons once a week for twenty minutes. Lunch lessons are small group lessons which give students the opportunity to work on musical concepts they are having trouble with.

In Symphonic Band emphasis is placed on performance. The students learn an extensive repertoire of music during the year. The Symphonic Band has many public performances during the year, including the Fall Concert, Winter Concert, A.T.-I.T. Band Festival, Spring Grade School Concerts, Music in the Parks Competition, Spring Concert, Illinois Grade School Music Association's District and State Contests, and the Addison VFW's Memorial Day Ceremony. The Symphonic Band has scored a Division I rating at the State Contest for the past six years. The Symphonic Band also performs at all 8th grade home basketball games as the "Purple People Eaters" Pep Band. Symphonic Band students are eligible to participate in the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Solo and EnsembleContest, and they are eligible to audition for $100 music scholarships sponsored by the Addison Music Parents to be used for the costs of private lessons or Summer Music Camps.
