SymphonicBand
Students
who average an "A" in band are placed in Symphonic Band. Symphonic
Band is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who rehearse every
day during first period. Symphonic Band students are also required to come
to lunch lessons once a week for twenty minutes. Lunch lessons are small
group lessons which give students the opportunity to work on musical concepts
they are having trouble with.

In
Symphonic Band emphasis is placed on performance. The students learn an
extensive repertoire of music during the year. The Symphonic Band has many
public performances during the year, including the Fall Concert, Winter
Concert, A.T.-I.T. Band Festival, Spring Grade School Concerts, Music in
the Parks
Competition,
Spring Concert, Illinois Grade School Music Association's District and
State Contests, and the Addison VFW's Memorial Day Ceremony. The Symphonic
Band has scored a Division I rating at the State Contest for the past six
years. The Symphonic Band also performs at all 8th grade home basketball
games as the "Purple People Eaters" Pep Band. Symphonic Band
students are eligible to participate in the Illinois Grade School Music
Association's Solo and EnsembleContest, and they are eligible to audition
for $100 music scholarships sponsored by the Addison Music Parents to be
used for the costs of private lessons or Summer Music Camps. For more performance
