Students benefit from generous donations
August, 2010

Many District 4 students are, once again, the fortunate recipients of materials that have been donated to help them learn and succeed in the classroom.

The Gamma Eta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma continued their tradition of helping District 4 students when they spent the morning shopping for school supplies which they donated for use in District 4 schools. Delta Kappa Gamma is a professional honor society of women educators.  The society promotes professional and personal growth of its members and excellence in education. Many members of the Gamma Eta chapter are retired District 4 teachers.

Operation Backpack is funded by donations from individual chapter members, grant money from the Lambda State Educational Foundation and club fundraising projects. The school supplies have been distributed to the eight District 4 schools where the supplies are available for students who are in need.

The Women of Peace were responsible for the organization behind Prince of Peace Lutheran Church's annual school supply drive. This is the third year that the Women of Peace have selected one District 4 school on which they focus their energy and resources. Congregation members gave generously and the women's group met to sort and organize the supplies, which were delivered to Ardmore School before the beginning of the new school year.

Many thanks to the members of Delta Kappa Gamma and Prince of Peace!
