Lincoln 4th Graders Experience Ellis Island

Fourth grade students in Mrs. Barrera's class participated in an Ellis Island simulation that gave them an appreciation of the experiences of many immigrants entering the United States in the early 20th century. Students were required to visit medical, baggage, interview, information and passport stations, answering questions and waiting in long lines as they carried their possesions with them. Students were required to get their paperwork approved and often experienced the frustration of having to revisit multiple stations.
