The curriculum we use in our classroom comes from The Creative Curriculum*. The goal of The Creative Curriculum is to have teachers provide an environment that will enhance the social-emotional, cognitive and physical growth of all children.The environment in our classroom becomes the curriculum. Our classroom is filled with a variety of centers and activity areas. Each center is designed for the purpose of fostering children's growth by:
- Enhancing social-emotional development:
- To experience a sense of self-esteem
- To exhibit a positive attitude toward life
- To demonstrate cooperative, pro-social behavior
- Enhancing cognitive development:
- To acquire learning and problem-solving skills
- To expand logical thinking skills
- To acquire concepts and information leading to a fuller understanding of the immediate world
- To demonstrate skills in make-believe play
- To expand verbal communication skills
- To develop pre-reading skills
- To develop pre-writing skills
- Enhancing physical development:
- To enhance gross motor skills
- To enhance fine motor skills
- To use all senses in learning **
