Our Early
Childhood
Classroom...
The curriculum we use in our classroom comes from The Creative Curriculum*. The goal of The Creative Curriculum is to have teachers provide an environment that will enhance the social-emotional, cognitive and physical growth of all children.

The environment in our classroom becomes the curriculum. Our classroom is filled with a variety of centers and activity areas. Each center is designed for the purpose of fostering children's growth by:

  • Enhancing social-emotional development:
    • To experience a sense of self-esteem
    • To exhibit a positive attitude toward life
    • To demonstrate cooperative, pro-social behavior
  • Enhancing cognitive development:
    • To acquire learning and problem-solving skills
    • To expand logical thinking skills
    • To acquire concepts and information leading to a fuller understanding of the immediate world
    • To demonstrate skills in make-believe play
    • To expand verbal communication skills
    • To develop pre-reading skills
    • To develop pre-writing skills
  • Enhancing physical development:
    • To enhance gross motor skills
    • To enhance fine motor skills
    • To use all senses in learning **
