Art

As children work with different art materials, they experiment with color, shape, design, and texture. Through their art they can express their ideas and their feelings. They develop planning skills while creating. They also develop small muscles and eye-hand coordination. They often express delight upon completion of their creation.

Parents can provide art materials that offer opportunities for imagination, experimentation, individuality, and discovery. Let children use art materials such as paint, markers, crayons, scissors, glue, hole punches, and collage materials. Provide blank paper so that their creation is truly open-ended, creative, and individualistic. Designate a safe place where the art materials are to be used. Be sure to have a place ready to hang up all of the wonderful creations!
