Computer center

The computer center in our classroom gets a lot of use. We provide software programs for the children to use to help them develop language and math skills, to help them learn how to solve problems, and to let them express their creativity. The computers are grouped closely together so that the children can interact and use their language skills. They also develop their social skills when they help each other learn. Working with computers will help the children prepare for a future in which they will need to know how to work with computers.

Parents who have computers in their homes can obtain a variety of appropriate software programs for their preschool age children. The trick is finding the software, which isn't easy these days with so few stores left that carry good preschool software. Doing some online research for software can give you a lot of titles to look at. Parent reviews of software titles can be found online as well. The Addison Public Library has some children's software available for checkout. You might also ask your child's teacher for advice on software titles, as well as other parents with preschoolers.
