Musical activities occur daily in our classroom. The children have opportunities to make their own music with instruments. They also sing piggy-back songs, which are songs with new words written to go with old classic tunes. The children learn new words and concepts through these songs and movements. We also play old familiar tunes on CDs, DVDs, video and audio cassette tapes. It is important that the children get to move to the music they hear. Music and movement are a wonderful outlet for energy and creativity. |

Parents can
make homemade instruments. Pictured here are jingle
bracelets made from pipe cleaners and jingle bells. The
plastic eggs left over from Easter can be filled with
different items such as rice, beans, small stones, jingle
bells, buttons or anything else that when shaken, produces a
sound. Pots and pans and wooden spoons can also serve as
musical instruments. Sing songs everyday and watch your
child's language develop dramatically!
