Outdoors

Playing outdoors gives children a chance to climb, run, jump, and stretch their muscles in wide open spaces. When the weather permits, we take walks to Westview Park, which is adjacent to Ardmore School. The playground equipment there is just right for our preschoolers. Using the equipment helps the children develop their large muscles and balancing skills. They also develop social skills as they learn to take turns. They gain self-confidence as they learn new skills.

Parents can provide many opportunities for outdoor play. If you have a yard, you might have equipment for climbing and swinging. You can provide balls for throwing and catching. Going to the local parks is a great way to spend an hour or two! Addison has parks located all over the city that you can walk or drive to. Here is a list of Addison parks with the addresses, as well as X's showing which parks have playgrounds.
