In using the book by Robert Brown, "How Spider Saved Halloween", the children will draw what they will be for Halloween.

In integrating our science and math, the children will identify spiders as arachnids and they will compare and contrast them to other insects. They will practice counting to 8 and they will identify the numbers to 8.

In art, the children will make spider headbands using black construction paper headbands and only 8 paper strips for legs and large wiggle eyes. This is a great assessment to have the children associate the numeral 8 and the color black.

In language arts, the children will draw their own spiders and write or dictate sentences about what they have drawn.

In music, the children will recite, "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and other spider fingerplays and songs.
