Developmental Screening at Ardmore School

Addison School District #4 offers free developmental screening of preschool children. The screening process checks speech and language development, thinking and reasoning abilities, small and large muscle coordination, listening, vision and hearing skills, and other academic readiness skills. The purpose of the screening is to answer questions parents may have about their child's development and to identify those children who may need preschool education services.

Screening is done by a team of professionals and takes one to two hours. Children are screened by playing a series of games with a teacher. Questions about the child's development are asked of parents. Screenings are conducted throughout the school year.

Referrals may be made by parents, relatives, physicians, pre-schools, day care centers, or other agencies. No child is screened without parental permission.

Appointments are now being taken for the months of October, November, January, February, and June. Any child between the ages of 3 and 5 years, who lives in Addison School District #4 may receive the services of the screening program. On the day of the appointment, parents will need to bring the official birth certificate of the child being tested, and four proofs of residency. If you do not have four proofs of residency please request an affidavit (must be notarized) when making an appointment. The affidavit should be completed and notarized well in advance of the screening appointment.

Please call 458-2905 for more information and to request an appointment.
