Fall, 2011

Dear Army Trail Parents,

It's hard to believe that October is upon us. The first month of school has been very exciting. Students have been getting to know their teachers, meeting new friends, and learning the routine of school. It has been wonderful visiting classrooms and witnessing all of the learning that has already occurred. All grade levels have been involved in the AIMS Web/MIDE benchmarking and second through fifth grade classes are completing the MAP benchmarking in reading and math. These assessments will assist classroom teachers in providing instruction that will meet the needs of individual students.

We have already had opportunities for families to visit school and learn more about their child's education. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Student /Staff Soccer game as well as Open House. We will be hosting a Parent Education Night on Tuesday, October 4th. It is important that you take the time to attend this evening event from 6:00-8:00.

We continue to promote a culture of reading at Army Trail School. Please ask your child about the books they are reading during Read and Relax . I hope you are taking time to read with your children at home each night. Students have also participated in behavior expectation lessons. They are doing a great job acting in the Army Trail Way . Please carry these same expectations over into your home. When students are Safe, Respectful, and Responsible they will be successful in school and in life.

I look forward to another great year. The students and staff at Army Trail School are the best!!! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me or your child's teacher. The partnership between home and school is key to the education of your child.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Donna Haney
