Grade 4 and 5

Identification is based on a matrix procedure that incorporates the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, Cognitive Abilities and the Teacher Recommendation Checklist. Students are grouped together for instruction with the gifted education teacher and continue in the program through grade 5 unless formal procedures for removal are initiated by the parent, student, principal or gifted teacher.  Additional students who meet the criteria may enter the program second semester.  New students to the district who meet the criteria may enter at the beginning of the school year.

Grades 6-8

Students continue in gifted sections through grade 8 providing they meet the report card grade requirement or formal procedures for removal are initiated by the parent, student, principal or teacher.
