Tiger Stripes

Safe, Respectful, Responsible

What is the Tiger Stripes P.B.I.S. program?

Tiger Stripes is a P.B.I.S. or Positive Behavior Intervention Support system that is a process for creating a safer and more effective school. The emphasis of the Tiger Stripes program is to offer students a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create a positive environment at Stone School. Instead of using a patchwork of individual behavioral management plans, Tiger Stripes offers a continuum of positive behavior support for all students within Stone School. Tiger Stripes implemented in all areas including classroom and non-classroom settings (such as hallways, restrooms). The Stone School staff is excited about encouraging students to make positive behavior choices.

What are the goals?

The Tiger Stripes program clearly defines appropriate behavior goals throughout the student's school day and rewards students for behaving appropriately. The three goals that Stone School Tiger Stripe program has deemed necessary for creating a positive learning environment are safety, respect, and responsibility. Attention is focused on creating and sustaining primary (school-wide), secondary (classroom), and tertiary (individual) systems of support to improve student behavior (personal, health, social, work and recreation) for all of Stone School's students by making problem behavior less effective, efficient, and relevant, and desired behavior more functional.

What are Tiger Stripes and how are they used?

Tiger Stripes are distributed to students for their appropriate behavior. Tiger Stripes are coupons that students receive for their good behavior. (They may keep these and share them with their parents.) Their teacher then records the student's name and the date and places this coupon into the Tiger Stripe box. Each week, twenty names are randomly drawn from the Tiger Stripe box and students are awarded prizes for their good behavior. Each week "Academy Awards" will be given out by the Principal. A specific behavior will be announced for the day and "Academy Awards" Certificates will be given out to students who are caught demonstrating the behavior. The award will be redeemed in the office for a special treat at the end of the day. The "Academy Award" is used to acknowledge specific positive behaviors, which help to make Stone School safer and more effective.

How can I help?

We need donations to enable us to reward Stone School students as part of the Tiger Stripe program. Some examples of items that could be donated are posters, bowling passes, computer programs, pencils, pens rings, sports cards, coupons from local restaurants and many other items.

We would appreciate any donation that you can provide. Monetary donations will be used to purchase prizes. No donation is too small!
