All visitors are required to check in at the office and to wear a visitor's badge.

 

School Day

School starts at 8:50 am each day and ends at 3:15 p.m.

 Lunch/Recess begins at 11:50 a.m. and concludes at 12:35 p.m.

All students are encouraged to attend school every day. Although school attendance is very important, it is more important to keep your child home when he/she is ill. If your child has a fever, he/she needs to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. In the event that a child is too ill to attend school, please phone the school attendance line and report your child's absence before 9:00 a.m. Please give your child's name, the grade level, teacher's name and the date of the absence.

 

 

Buses

Buses arrive at the school no earlier than 8:35 a.m. Special Education buses that follow an alternate schedule are the exception. Students should always follow all the bus safety rules. Students may not ride any bus other than the one they are assigned. It is assumed that the student will be riding the bus each day unless a note from a parent states otherwise.

 

Morning Arrival

Riders and Walkers arrive at the school no earlier than 8:30 a.m. When children arrive at school, they are to line-up at their designated lines on the playground. At the 8:50 bell, students are dismissed to the classrooms. On mornings when there is inclement weather, children will go into the building.  All students are expected to be in the building when school starts at 8:50 a.m. Students who arrive after this time should be brought to the office by a parent and signed in. A tardy will be recorded.

 

Lunch Recess

Students in grades 1-5 have daily, outdoor recess. Recess will be held indoors if it is raining, the wind chill is below 10 (ten) degrees Fahrenheit, or due to other inclement weather conditions. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately and is prepared to go outside. If/when it snows, students who wear snow pants and boots will be allowed to play in the snow during recess time.

 

Hot Lunch/Milk

Hot lunch is available everyday. Arbor Management, Inc. will be providing the lunch service at Stone School.

Daily Lunch $2.05/ Milk $0.55

If you are purchasing an individual lunch, please put $2.05 in an envelope marked with the child's name, grade, and teacher. We are unable to make change.

 

Meal Tickets (are usable throughout the school year)

        5 lunches with milk....$10.25

        10 lunches with milk..$20.50

        15 lunches with milk..$30.75

        20 lunches with milk..$41.00

Milk Tickets may be purchased only in units of twenty ($11.00) and are also good throughout the school year.

Birthdays

 

Student birthdays and half birthdays are an exciting day at Stone. Students get to hear their names during the morning announcements, as well as receive a birthday pencil from the office. Parents wishing to bring birthday treats for their children's birthday should keep in mind that treats should be store bought (due to allergies) and that these treats are passed out at the end of the day at approximately 3:00 p.m.

 

Please remember that birthday invitations should not be passed out at school. Please use the U.S. Mail or hand deliver these invitations to student's houses. Thank you for your help.

 

Pick-up and Drop-off Procedures

 

Parents may use the north side of Stone Avenue for pick-up and drop-off only.  

 

Even though the signage states "No Parking", The Addison Police has agreed not to ticket parents who use the north side of Stone Avenue for this purpose.  Drivers will not be ticketed by the Addison Police if they remain in their cars.  If you decide to get out of your car, you are subject to a parking ticket. 

Drop-off is prohibited on DuPage Avenue. This area is designated for bus loading and drop off only. Please be aware that the No Parking signs posted on DuPage, the designated bus area on Dupage, and the south side of Stone Avenue may not be used as a pick-up or drop-off area.  Drivers who use this area for this reason are subject to a parking ticket as well.  This is in effect even if you remain in your car.

 

As always, we ask only parents who have business to address inside the school to use the parking lot as our spaces are limited
