March 11, 2020 communication

During the next couple of weeks there are many events scheduled to take place in our schools both during the school day and after. We are concerned with the potential of increased risk-factors with visitors in our schools that may contribute to the possibility of community spread of the COVID-19. Therefore, all activities involving outside individuals in our facilities and activities involving our students going out of our schools (ie field trips) are cancelled. All district after school meetings are cancelled, as well. The status of activities will continue until further notice.

ASD4 Families and Employees,

We continue to monitor the COVID-19 updates and recommendations from the federal Centers for Disease Control and the Illinois Department of Public Health. During the next couple of weeks there are many events scheduled to take place in our schools both during the school day and after school. A potential for the community spread of the COVID-19 exists with visitors to our schools and when our students leave our schools on field trips. Therefore, effective immediately the following activities for Addison School District 4 and all school facilities are cancelled until further notice.

 After-school activities involving students and staff (clubs, sports, activities)
 Outside groups that utilize our facilities (PTA events, Scouts, Addison Rec Club, AGSP, etc.)
 Special events held in school district facilities on weekends and evenings.
 School concerts
 Kindergarten registration
 Field trips during the school day

Normal school operations will continue as normal. The decision to cancel all other activities is to limit the community spread risk-factors in our community.

Our ASD4 custodial crews continue to use the flu and cold season protocols to ensure that all touchable surfaces are disinfected, and we remind all employees and students to:
 Refrain from personal contact and sharing drinks or food.
 Regularly and thoroughly wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds.
 Cover our faces with a tissue when you sneeze or cough.
 Stay home when you are sick. Let us know if you have flu-like symptoms.

If you have any questions regarding COVID-19 information and our school district’s preparations, you may contact my office at (630) 458-2425.

Thank you,
John Langton

Gracias,
John Langton
Superintendente
