Reunification

Standard Reunification Method

In the event of an emergency at school—such as a weather incident, power outage, or safety concern—students and staff follow specific safety procedures to make sure everyone is protected and accounted for. Once the situation is under control, the Standard Reunification Method (SRM-R) is used to safely and securely reunite students with their parents or guardians.  Reunification may take place at another location if it is not safe to remain at the school.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Communication:
Families are notified through the school’s communication system (calls, texts, or emails) that a reunification is taking place. You’ll be told where to go and what to bring, such as your photo ID.

  2. Check-In:
When you arrive at the reunification site, staff will ask for your ID and confirm that you are listed as an authorized adult for your child. This step ensures that every student is released only to approved individuals.  At check-in, parents will be asked to fill out a form for each child.

  3. Waiting Area:
You may be asked to wait briefly while school staff locate your child and bring them to the reunification area. This helps keep the process organized and calm.

  4. Reunification:
Once your identity is confirmed, your child will be escorted to meet you. Staff will mark that your child has been safely reunited with you before you leave.

The reunification method helps keep students safe, reduces confusion, and ensures that every child is released to the right person. It may take some time, but the process is designed to be as smooth and reassuring as possible for both students and families.  We appreciate your patience as we navigate this process.
